We are just a mere three weeks away from the second season premiere of Game of Thrones. The fantasy drama that took the world by storm last year has stepped up marketing lately, premiering a bunch of new trailers and a couple of posters. Now, another weekend has come, meaning only another new trailer. And while the last couple have remained very mysterious, this one explores the emotions and relationships of the characters this time around.
If that wasn't enough for you, co-creator of the television series D.B. Weiss spoke with The L.A. Times, who had a chance to ask him about what the show would be adapting. While the first season was mostly taken from author George R.R. Martin's first book, we assumed that they would do the same with Martin's second novel in the series A Clash of Kings. However, Weiss offered quite the interesting response.
"We’re adapting his entire series," he said. "The changes we make, taking something from one book and putting it in the middle of events from another book, are always at the service of the series as a whole – both George’s series and our series. This year there are definitely things we took from Book 3 and pulled them back a season and there are things we hold off on introducing from Book 2 to put in a later season and there are things, regrettably, there’s just no room to include at all.
Of course, what plot elements that will be present shall remain a mystery...for now. But, all answers should become clear by the second season finale at the beginning of June.
Game of Thrones returns April 1st only on HBO.
