After the massive success that was Dreamworks' How to Train Your Dragon, the animation adventure has begun an all-new franchise for the company that is taking many forms around the globe. For starters, not only is a live-action stage show currently captivating audiences worldwide, but a television series will follow this Fall featuring at the very least four returning actors reprising their roles including Jay Baruchel for main character Hiccup. Now, with a highly-anticipated sequel on the way, the second big screen installment has employed an actor from one of television's most beloved series.

Variety reports that Kit Harington, best known for his role as Jon Snow in HBO's hit adaptation epic Game of Thrones, has joined the voice cast for How To Train Your Dragon 2. Harington is the first all-new member of the ensemble among the returning crowd of Baruchel, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, Kristen Wiig, and Gerard Butler, who were all previously confirmed.

While plot details are being kept under tight wraps for the second film, it's said that Harington's character won't be playing on the side of the heroes. His character is described as a "villainous warrior", though it's unclear whether or not he will simply be an extension of the evil that will work against Hiccup, Toothless, and the gang again.

Co-director/writer Chris Sanders will strictly executive produce the sequel, leaving the sole duties to returning cast member Dean DeBlois for How To Train Your Dragon 2. Sanders has ventured to another project at Dreamworks with next Spring's fellow CGI animated adventure comedy The Croods starring Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds. How To Train Your Dragon grossed around $500 million worldwide at the box office in its 2010 release, and has also spawned three direct-to-video sequel shorts in which the cast reprises their roles yet again. Critically acclaimed, the feature went on to earn an Oscar nod for Best Animated Picture almost one year later.

Currently, the film is scheduled for release on June 20th, 2014.
