THE NEWS BUNDLE: Hans Zimmer To Partner Up With WB Again for 'Man of Steel' Score

In just a little under the month, Hans Zimmer's monumental score that surrounds Christopher Nolan's Batman returns one final time as The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters. The film will be the latest to feature a partnership not only between the composer and the director, but also studio Warner Brothers as well. With Zimmer's sound being iconic and creating memorable film moments, WB now wants to create the same feeling for an upcoming reboot for one of DC Comics other leading heroes: Superman.

Variety reports that Zimmer has signed up to partner with Christopher Nolan and the studio once more as he will compose the score for next summer's Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder. This will be the fifth straight film of Nolan's that Zimmer has scored between the Batman trilogy and Inception, and will be Zimmer's 11th film for Warner Brothers in ten years. Interestingly enough, Zimmer had denied rumors early on that he would be scoring the film, but apparently something changed his mind along the line.

Nolan has been considered the "godfather" of the upcoming Superman return, as he came up with the story along with writer David S. Goyer, who penned the script while Nolan began work on The Dark Knight Rises. Nolan has stayed heavily involved in a producing role and has been tasked with overseeing the project throughout the extensive production.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope - Superman.

Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Antje Traue, Christopher Meloni, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Richard Schiff, and more, while also directed by Zack Snyder, Man of Steel flies into theaters on June 14th, 2013.
