If there was one drama in the past year that has pissed off audience members, it's that of AMC's The Killing. After the reveal that the first season would not answer just who killed Rosie Larsen, AMC picked up a second season of the drama to make sure that the murder was solved. However, the series returned with ratings hit hard and fans growing more frustrated by the week. Now it seems that since the killer of Rosie has been put behind bars, the show has creatively ended on a high note. And it seems that will have to suffice for fans as The Killing has been cancelled after two years.
“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season. AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”
Production company Fox Television Studios has officially said that they are currently planning to shop the series elsewhere in the hopes that it could return for a third season, but this just simply seems like a last chance effort for most television series that gain the axe these days. However given the fact that The Killing could prove to have some success by continuing forward with their impressive cast, the claim actually has at least some leverage.
The company said, “Fox Television Studios is extremely proud of The Killing, the extraordinary writing staff and crew, and what we believe is one of the best casts on television. We will proceed to try to find another home for the show.”
