THE NEWS BUNDLE: First Footage from 'Carrie' Remake Features Chloe Moretz By The Pool

With horror remake Carrie currently filming north of the border, the high-profile feature has certainly come out of the gate swinging. We've heard plenty about the various characters and story to lay out a certain skeleton for the film, but how exactly the actors will work with their respective roles is too hard to tell. While we'll have to wait until later this year for our first look at what we'll be seeing on the big screen, the first footage from the film has been released as B-roll straight from the set focuses on a gym class pool scene that certainly highlights the bullies over the titular telekinetic lead.

Special thanks to Bloody Disgusting:

The film takes place in Chamberlain, Maine, the home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Julianne Moore) and her daughter Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions.

In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of Carrie earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

Carrie, directed by Kimberley Peirce and adapted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is schedule to hit theaters on March 13th, 2013.
