For diehard fans of How I Met Your Mother, romance lovers may remember Kal Penn's role of Kevin as the only thing standing between Robin and Barney actually falling in love. Spending about half of the seventh season on the hit comedy, Penn actually did a decent job of blending in with the ever so lovable Gang that viewers have come to know and love. Now, it seems Penn may actually be a primetime friend to the series as he's now making his way back into comedy and possibly CBS as well.
The former House star has recently joined the new CBS comedy pilot, Ex-Men. The potential new series comes from the genius mind of Rob Greenberg, the executive producer behind How I Met Your Mother. So in other words, it's somewhat of a reunion for two HIMYM alums.
The sitcom will be centering around a charming male in his twenties (Chris Smith, Paranormal Activity 3) who was ditched at the altar by his fiancée. The series will pick up when he moves into a short-term housing facility and befriends a group of divorced men.
Penn will be joining as of one of the divorced men that the lead ends up befriending called Gil. Besides being one of the residents of the complex, the character is also described as a male who was caught in "the world's worst affair".
Penn was supposed to star in an ABC comedy pilot Prairie Dogs last pilot season, but the network chose not to pick it up. Now, the actor has a chance to break back into comedy once more on the top primetime network. With casting already underway, Ex-Men could make it to CBS as a mid-season replacement should the series be picked up.
