Following The Avengers, one of the biggest surges from a devoted fanbase happened to be a massive cult following for Clark Gregg's character of Agent Coulson. In fact, many believed that after the events of the massive superhero team-up the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent should return as a superhero of his own: Vision. While it still only remains wishful thinking for the time being, many have fallen completely in love with the idea and hoping that the recently dated sequel may just feature the character after all. Now, one fan has turned the thought into an example with a piece of fantastic fan art while small rumors are beginning to surface already that another actor may nab the role instead.
*SPOILERS FOR THE AVENGERS OBVIOUSLY FOLLOW*
First off, let's start off with the small rumor. Comic Book Therapy is reporting on a supposed screenshot that Vin Diesel had briefly updated his Facebook profile to include a picture of Vision as his main picture, possibly hinting at an involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Two versions of the photo still remain in the album, though Diesel has switched back to normal for the time being. No explanation from the usually vocal actor was given, and any talk may be kept incredibly quiet for now. But could he play Vision in the future? As of right now, anything is possible.
The character's history ties directly into Ant-Man, so whether or not the origin story will change in some fashion has yet to be seen. Vision is created by the android villain of Ultron, who in turn is a creation of Ant-Man alter ego Hank Pym. Ultron created the powerful hero by encoding brain waves from Wonder Man along with including body parts from the original deceased Human Torch. Vision eventually betrays Ultron and fights for The Avengers and also goes on to marry The Scarlet Witch (who also interestingly enough falls under Marvel Studios' list of acquired rights).
Many believe that Wonder Man could easily be substituted for Agent Coulson following the hero's death in The Avengers. Some point out that Coulson's on-screen death was cut a little too short and that if Nick Fury was willing to fabricate the Captain America trading cards of Coulson's to inspire the team, there's no telling just what else he could be covering up.
Vision has been known to also pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy and with S.H.I.E.L.D. playing a part in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, perhaps we could see Coulson come back to life during the course of the film. If anything, maybe one of Marvel's good ol' fashioned post-credits sequences will hold the key.
With that being said, one sculptor named Paul has created a concept art of Coulson resurrected as Vision in a piece of art that is sweeping over the internet today. Click the photos below for a larger detailed look at the bust (via i09):
