THE NEWS BUNDLE: 'The Walking Dead' To Axe Off Another Major Character In Season 3

After a second season filled with plenty of surprise deaths, The Walking Dead has solidified that it's willing to do anything that could easily shock viewers and that no survivor is safe. Over the course of 19 episodes thus far, we've been through a handful of meaningful deaths that have all shaped the character drama to its core while also seemingly separating its narrative just enough from the comic books so that the series is its own creative machine.

Now Season 3 is set to introduce the longest story arc in the comic books to date, but its unclear exactly how far the adaptation will be willing to take it. But today, one thing has certainly been revealed: not everyone will be making it out of this one alive yet again.

TV Line's Michael Ausiello was asked whether or not we can expect one of our favorite characters to bite the dust sometime in the next 16 episodes, to which he replied "I can confirm that a series regular will become zombie kibble during Season 3. Whether that death takes place in the first half or second half I can’t say."

Now while it seems like the clue might hint at exactly who will be receiving the bad end of a gun by the end of the season, it could really be any one of the supporting characters who have an ill fate in the source material. Not to mention that what Robert Kirkman and company have in store is easily up in the air given Sophia is still alive in the comics while Dale and Shane's deaths were under much different circumstances in the books.

Who knows? Maybe by this time next year, Carl may have finally realized he should have stayed in the goddamn house.

The Walking Dead returns October 14th to AMC with a first run of eight episodes before another eight air in Early 2013.
