THE NEWS BUNDLE: First Look at Sif's New Armor in Set Photos from 'Thor: The Dark World' [UPDATED with Thor!]

As Thor: The Dark World has been filming for a few weeks already, there's one public set that has been getting plenty of attention in England over the course of that time. Set in what appears to be a realm opposite of Asgard, the the cameras have been rolling in what has been described as a fictional village. But as to exactly where the scenes are taking place have remained up in the air. Today, however, we have our first shots of what seems to be a war-filled outing with plenty of extras donning armor and weapons. The biggest shot, however, it the first look at Jaimie Alexander in the reimagined costume of Lady Sif.

This time around, Sif's armor is a more subtle approach than the one from the first film and has a more thin layer while not exactly lacking protection either. While it's unclear just whom she is fighting, we can see what appears to be Asgardian soldiers next to her along with a village being attacked by an unknown object.

I think what's beautiful here is that this natural battle scene along with its gritty appeal screams Game of Thrones, which is really no surprise given director Alan Taylor's high profile work on the hit television series. While it still involves Thor's fantastical elements in many ways, there is a more grounded feel to the images below that I just can't shake. Perhaps it will look different on film, but for right now it's actually quite impressive.

UPDATE: New set photos have surfaced that show Chris Hemsworth and his stunt double on set as the God of Thunder himself gets in on the action. See them with the fellow pictures below!

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, Zachary Levi, Stellan Skarsgard, Ray Stevenson, Alice Krige and more, Thor: The Dark World picks up where The Avengers left off as war-criminal Loki is looking for revenge against his father and brother while still exploring the God of Thunder's devotion for both Odin and Earth love interest Jane Foster. However a new threat soon emerges as Malekith the Accursed and his Dark Elves seek to cause havoc across the Nine Realms.

Thor: The Dark World is currently set for release on November 8th, 2013.
