THE NEWS BUNDLE: First Posters for 'Identity Thief' with Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy Revealed
Though the rest of the year is filled with some dramatic Oscar-worthy thrillers, it's exactly what will deliver in comedy that has a low-key status for the time being. While laughers such as This is 40 and The Guilt Trip sneak in just under the wire, 2013 may be the chance to deliver some great comedic outings that have been in development for some time.
One project that falls under the category is Identity Thief, which sees director Seth Gordon following up his 2011 hit Horrible Bosses by reteaming with Jason Bateman once more. As a trailer makes its way out this week, today the first glimpses of both Bateman and female lead Melissa McCarthy have been revealed to showcase a very odd duo who will hopefully hit all the right notes.
The first trailer for Identity Thief will be hitting this Wednesday. Until then, here is the full synopsis to tie you over:
Unlimited funds have allowed Diana (McCarthy) to live it up on the outskirts of Miami, where the queen of retail buys whatever strikes her fancy. There’s only one glitch: The ID she’s using to finance these sprees reads “Sandy Bigelow Patterson” ... and it belongs to an accounts rep (Bateman) who lives halfway across the U.S.
With only one week to hunt down the con artist before his world implodes, the real Sandy Bigelow Patterson heads south to confront the woman with an all-access pass to his life. And as he attempts to bribe, coax and wrangle her the 2,000 miles to Denver, one easy target will discover just how tough it is to get your name back.
Co-starring Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, T.I., Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick and Eric Stonestreet, Identity Thief hits theaters on February 8th, 2013.
