With Oscar season just kicking off, there's been plenty of buzz regarding a number of different films thanks to the festival circuit that has run amok this month. As NYFF is just around the corner, one of the main highlights happens to be the Oscar-worthy drama Life of Pi which impressed audiences as far back as CinemaCon in April. While it's been only two months since the first trailer for the film, it seems Fox wants to have some momentum in order for the screening to kick off with a bang. Now an new international trailer that focuses more on the film's story has surfaced, but it may be the look of the digital cinematography that may divide some as we get an extensive peek at what's to come.
The film, based off of the novel of the same name by Yann Martel, involves the character of Pi who is a youth that is the only person to survive the sinking of a freighter. He finds himself on a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Bengal tiger. Suraj Sharma, Irffan Khan, Gerard Depardieu and Adil Hussain, filming took place in Taiwan and India early last year and comes from a script by David Magee (Finding Neverland).
Life of Pi hits theaters on November 21st, but will open the New York Film Festival on Friday September 28th.
