THE NEWS BUNDLE: Mandy Moore May Return To TV in New ABC Comedy Pilot 'Miss Most Likely'

Though it feels like it's been quite sometime in recent years since we've seen Mandy Moore, the singer/actress has had an interesting career turn with a few bad films and plenty of voice acting roles in Disney projects such as the hit feature Tangled & the Disney XD series Tron: Uprising. Earlier this year, Moore attempted to return into the spotlight with a new ABC comedy pilot that had high-profile status but ultimately never went through. Now, she's trying it again as the actress has just signed on for a new series with the same background.

Deadline reports that Mandy Moore will star in the new comedy pilot Miss Most Likely for ABC, with production to start early next year. Moore will gain an executive producer credit along side creator Richard Appel (American Dad! and The Cleveland Show) while it will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

The plot of the potential new series will follow a 28-year-old who decides to "run away from home to the big city so she can finally start the life she’s always wanted. Unfortunately for her, her family decides to run away with her". Seeing how ABC has placed a high penalty on the project while they are also pushing for Moore to become one of their network stars, it's expected that the series is a big contender that executives behind the scenes are hoping to add to their comedy line-up.

This won't be the first time in recent years that ABC has had a home for Mrs. Moore either. The actress appeared in both the sixth and seventh seasons of medical drama Grey's Anatomy for four total episodes back in 2010. If successful, this will be Moore's first live-action role since the panned rom-com Love, Wedding, Marriage directed by Dermot Mulroney and co-starring Kellan Lutz.
