With summer officially over, it's time for Halloween to start rolling in and the dead to start moaning once more as AMC's hit zombie drama The Walking Dead returns for a third season. Though a good portion of what's to come has been kept under wraps, we know that The Survivors will be making their way to The Prison from the comics while fan-favorite character Michonne and The Governor will be appearing. On top of all of this, the third year will also be the longest one the series has yet to offer. Now among a number of promotional posters for the upcoming season, AMC has revealed the official one as Rick takes to defending what may be one of his final frontiers.
The trailer for Season 3 of The Walking Dead certainly seemed to emphasize that our group of heroes are tired of running in this zombie apocalypse. And what's interesting to note is that the official poster for this season breaks the mold of the one from season's past.
The past two years have the familiar image of a setting that audiences will grow accustomed to while Rick had his back turned in order to keep going forward. Now it seems like Rick has his back up against the wall as we now have our leader face-forward fighting what we assume to be a group of Walkers.
Perhaps this is a sign that the impulse to flee stops now.
The Walking Dead returns Sunday October 14th at 9PM only on AMC.
