WATCH THIS: The Joker Returns with Cameos From Other Batman Villains in 'The Dark Knight Rises' Fan Film

As Gotham crumbled to ashes as Bane took over the city, there were many Bat-fans that wondered an easy question: what happened to The Joker. Though Heath Ledger's iconic take on the character can never be portrayed on-screen again, the official novelization of the film hinted at his whereabouts during the siege while criminals such as Catwoman and Scarecrow were left to thrive in the new status quo.

While fans previously created a storyboard of the deleted scene that the novel hinted at, now we get to see those storyboards come to life with a fan film that could have almost acted as a deleted scene featuring our classic character and a number of other Batman baddies.

Though it's not exactly canon, the smart move of not showing any of the actor's faces while being as close to Nolan's trilogy as possible nearly makes this a deleted scene that never came to be. We get glimpses of fellow villains Mad Hatter, Calendar Man, The Riddler and more while Joker remains in his own little world, wiped clean of the signature make-up but never fully revealed. But perhaps the biggest tonuge-in-cheek reference may be a pre-transformation Harley Quinn heavily featured in the very beginning.

The Dark Knight Rises hits Blu-Ray and DVD on December 4th. Click here to pre-order on Amazon.
