THE NEWS BUNDLE: 'How I Met Your Mother' Co-Creator Reveals One-Hour Holiday Episode Next Month, Big Developments Teased

Though last year had a small holiday surprise in store for Robin, How I Met Your Mother hasn't quite hit the same Christmas high note since Season 2's "How Lily Stole Christmas". While we still have yet to receive word whether or not this eighth season will be the hit comedy's final one or whether it will avoid death for another year, it may just be the last time to celebrate the holidays with our gang while Marshall & Lily commemorate their baby's first Christmas. Now it seems if that is indeed the case, the series will be going out in super-sized style as the winter finale will end 2012 on a big note.

Earlier this week, co-creator Craig Thomas took to Twitter to reveal that on December 17th, How I Met Your Mother will be premiering a special one hour episode centered around the holidays. "Some really big crap happens!" he teases. "Our amazing cast made us behind-the-cameras folks cry more than once while shooting it. I mean, not me. Other people. Crybabies!"

The hour will be combined of two half hour installments, with the titles "The Silence of the Jinx" and "The Robin". As we are headed towards the inevitable wedding day between Barney and Robin, some speculate that the relationship between the two could finally take off and eventually led to a winter wonderland proposal. Nothing has been confirmed thus far, but with tears shed it's certainly just one of a few possibilities.

December is set to be a huge month for HIMYM, concluding a three episode arc featuring returning actor Joe Manganiello which began just last week while December 10th's episode will find Buffy alumni reunited as Seth Green guest stars, reuniting with Alyson Hannigan on-screen for the first time in years.

How I Met Your Mother airs every Monday at 8PM only on CBS.
