Though director Genndy Tartakovsky made his cinematic directorial debut last fall in Hotel Transylvania, he has an incredible resume on television as he's best known for creating Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory and directing multiple episodes of Powerpuff Girls. But with an overall deal now at Sony Pictures Animation, of which he has two films Popeye and Hotel Transylvania 2 in the works, it's been the notion that he's aiming to bring a 2D-animated Samurai Jack film to the big screen that has fans really excited.
While Hotel Transylvania featured 3D CGI, the basic style of Tartakovsky's characters and direction we've seen over the years was still very clearly present. But it turns out we won't have to wait much longer for a 2D take from the director as he has directed and animated his own short "Goodnight Mr. Foot" for the upcoming Hotel Transylvania home video release and though it looks a bit more like Ren & Stimpy than the usual animation we're used to from the visionary, you can see the full short for yourself right after the jump.
Hotel Transylvania hits Blu-Ray and DVD next Tuesday, January 29th.
Speaking of Tartakovsky, you can see another classic 2D creation of his come to life as the legendary restricted lost episode of Dexter's Laboratory "Dexter's Rude Removal" has finally surfaced.
